Please find attached an email which gives details of how the process of picking up tourists actually happen. The following is the email that a friend who booked through the site received. 

 

Key points emerging:

 

1. The hotel manager is a person called Lee (see emails below). This matches with the fact that the tenant in house 32 is a person called B Lee. Perhaps there is council tax data that can match up to confirm. 

2. As suspected the entire operation is very clandestine - guests arrive and meet the host at a meeting point at the intersection of Rosemont and Finchley road (Taro restaurant). They ring the manager once they arrive at Finchley Road and then walk up to Taro and then they are collected there. It would be worth investigating if the staff at Taro have any knowledge of the guesthouse. It is also interesting that the number to call on arrival is 07990667495 which is different from the number to book 0776546229. 

3. There is some information in Japanese on immigration/ landing card on the map. which I have not been able to translate. As soon as that is feasible, I will send details. 

 

4. My friend is scheduled to arrive on aug 31 at 6 pm. While she had done this booking as a favour, she obviously will not turn up. If the inspector wishes, they can use this opportunity to investigate the matter. The booking details and name of the person are below.

 

 

5. In the past the council investigation did not work as the operators were given advance notice and were therefore able to clean their act when the inspection happened. Therefore this time we urge you to do this carefully with no advance notification as well as take photographs which can be matched Up with the pictures on the website. We are also happy for the inspector to spend a day in our house on aug 30, so they can observe the activities of the House 32. 

 

It goes without saying that we would like our identity and all the source of evidence very confidential as we are not clear if there are criminal elements behind this operation. 

 

 

The neighbourhood watch police in Hampstead are in the loop about the situation and have advised us that the best course of action is for the council to pursue enforcement as this is a civil breach. 

 

 

In a separate email, I am sending some more photographs from another website.
