Amanda,

My sincere apologies, I was on leave last week and still drowning in my old emails as well as the new!  We would like to withdraw the green roof element from this application to allow you to process the materials element.

I will arrange for review of the green roof information and re-submission.

Apologies once again.

Regards,

Subject: FW: Chester Balmore - Materials and green roof conditions

Yaseen,

The applicant for this scheme is Nick Foyle, but I understand that he is no longer working for Willmott Dixon so I am sending this email to yourself instead.

I have received the following comments from my landscaping colleagues with regard to the green roof details:

Please note that paragraph 6.60 of my committee report for the main application states the following:

“Green roofs are proposed on the Chester Road Block and the Balmore Street Block and a brown roof is proposed on the Raydon Street Block.  Green walls are also proposed in the form of pre planted ivy panels.   The applicants have not specified what form the green and brown roofs will take. Sedum blankets on this site are not considered sufficient to provide the level of biodiversity required. Green/brown roofs should provide a high level of biodiversity and should have a substrate depth of at least 100mm into which vegetation can be planted or meadows sown. This will also aid in the sustainable drainage of the site. The applicants have agreed to such a design approach, subject to structural and other constraints, and details should be reserved by condition. It is noted that any potential increase in roof height to accommodate a more biodiverse green roof here would be minimal and would not affect the overall bulk and appearance of the block or scheme.”

The materials samples are considered acceptable.

If you would like to withdraw the green roof element from this proposal I can continue to assess the proposed materials and a decision notice should be sent by the end of the week.  This will then allow you time to amend the green roof proposals and to resubmit them in a separate application.  Can you let me know by the end of the week whether you wish to withdraw the green roof element from this application?

Regards
